ESA50 - Success!! was created by John93
I just wanted to say a big thanks for the guides on here. They are worth their weight in gold. I would never recommend anyone filling out any medical forms without them regardless of how ill they are. We moved home to a full UC area and had to make an online claim for that. My husband was previously in the ESA support group. An ESA50 form then arrived in the post which I filled out for him using the Benefits and Work guides. (Apparently the UC people were waiting to hear from the ESA people about hubby's ability to work, or lack of it). I took the advice about adding extra medical evidence, and ended up including an extra 31 pages! (Unfortunately hubby has lots of long term conditions .)We know from experience that first class recorded post can be slow so with a week to go until the form was due back we paid the extra for Special Delivery, and today we were informed via our online UC journal that my husband has been awarded the limited capability for work and work related activity component. A big relief! This has taken approximately two weeks since we sent the ESA50 form back. No word from the ESA people yet. Perhaps they are still reading the extra pages or gave up lol!
A word of caution for anybody else in the same situation. We were told by the UC people NOT to fill out the ESA50 form but to just wait until they heard from the ESA people. Apparently if we had done that our UC claim would have closed, and the ESA payments would have also stopped due to them not getting the completed ESA50 form back. (Whilst waiting for it to be sorted the ESA payments were continuing which were then deducted from the UC amount paid.)

A double congratulations, first for the LCWRA award (Support Group) and secondly for successfully navigating the minefield that is UC. Well done.
