Well done that sound's hopeful for appeal pending. May I ask how long did it take for the appeal to take place, was it many months. And would it be possible to see the letter you sent, I would be extremely grateful .
Thank you

Hi Al,

The site does not support Personal Messaging, nor do we have the facility to show personal letters.

We have information on appeals submission in our PIP MR/Appeals Guidance, and have provided links to other sources of such information.

I do not really see how viewing someone else's appeal submission would help, as each case is judged on how the limitations and disabilities caused as a result of their medical conditions affect them as an individual and not how they may affect someone else.

Even with two different people who suffer from the same medical conditions, the limitations/disabilities that they suffer as a result of the same medical conditions may be totally different or at totally different levels.

Therefore, they may well qualify under different PIP Descriptors scoring different levels of points.

We will try to help with generic information as much as we can.

hi all,

thanks very much for the info..

for those who asked, my date from being "invited" to apply for pip was jan 2014. I received the form in feb, sent it back in march. my medical assessment was aug 2014 and I received a decision sept 14. applied for MR oct 14 and was turned down jan 15 and put in my appeal feb 2015. I didn't receive an appeal date for ages, but was sent one in April for 22/6/15.

the letter I sent for my MR contained all the stuff that is available on this website. An example is (and I hope its ok to post this):

"dressing and undressing

I was awarded 0 points

as stated on the form and in my medical assessment, I explained that when I am unwell I do not get dressed and require prompting to do so. getting dressed feels like a lot f effort which I do not have tge energy for. getting dressed means going out, which causes more anxiety, so I will often need prompting several times to dress. During my last episode I had a friend staying over and she chose my clothes for me. I will often stay in the same clothes for days.

as a result of needing promtps to dress myself, I believe I should have been awarded 2 points"

that is pretty much the gist of my letter, where by I wrote stuff for what I was awarded, how my disability affects me for each category & how many points I believe I should have been awarded according to their points scoring system.

i hope your appeals and MRs go well. i know it is a difficult and scary time.

out of curiosity (to the mods), do you get many professionals that subscribe?

Sarah

Have a look at the right hand pane on the following page

www.benefitsandwork.co.uk/b-forum-feedback

Professional organisations tend to use the guides and other resources but there are a couple who post in the forum.

Whilst I appreciate what you are saying if someone has a specific condition and the assesors did some research into that condition and it's symptons they could complete the PIP point legal test themselves. I understand that medical conditions can affect everyone differently but with something like my partner has Dystonia permanent chronic dissability with no known cure it seems ridiculous.
On a postivie note thanks to Benefits & Work I feel pretty tooled up and hope to be going down the right path .

Hi again Sarah,

Thank you so much for sharing all the info with us. It's really kind of you. Appeal hearing on 7th July (quite short notice, but I'm not moaning!) , will let you know how it goes. Fingers and toes crossed.
A x
