Claiming Carers Allowance

My mum applied for PIP from DLA on the 5th February.
This week she was awarded the enhanced rate of both care and mobility with big thanks to this website!
We were advised she wouldn't get the severe disability premium so I applied for carers allowance to start from 5th February.
However the very next day she got a form to apply for the severe premium lol which we did so I withdrew my carers allowance as I don't want my mum to lose any money.
The woman at carers said I may be entitled to still get it backdated from 5th February to date, would this still work as at the time commencing 5th February she was on low care and high mobility rate of DLA but was awarded her PIP this week.
Do you think I could get it backdated?
Thanks

Hi m123,
Congratulations on Mum's Enhanced PIP Awards for "both" !!!
Thanks for the positive feedback regarding B&W !
To receive the Severe Disability Premium (SDP) Mum (or her partner) must :
"be receiving the Care component of Disability Living Allowance (middle or higher rate)
or
Personal Independence Payments Daily Living (either rate)
live alone (there are exceptions to this rule)
no one else must be getting carer's allowance for looking after you"
So you are right, even if she was entitled to The SDP she could not receive payment of it if you or anyone else was receiving Carers Allowance (CA) for providing care for her.
She must also be entitled to payment of Income Support (IS) Income Related (IR) ESA or Pension Credit (PC) so that The SDP can be paid.
Is she also in receipt of IS, IR ESA or PC ?
I assume that the form that she has received is an : IS10 Form
If Mum is entitled to payment of The SDP, payments should be backdated to the date of her Daily Living PIP Award.
Likewise, if you had claimed CA, you would have only been entitled to payment from the same date.
You cannot receive CA for providing care for someone that was only in receipt of Low Rate Care of DLA.
See : CA Gov.UK
&
Carers UK. CA.

Thanks for the reply, yes my mum has complete SDP form.
carers allowance say I might be entitled to receive some carers allowance from 5th feb (when her claim for pip was first received in their office) to the date she had the PIP award. As I was caring for her whilst she was entitled to receive both higher parts?
Can she backdate her SDP to the original date she first put her claim in or is that like PIP as well and can't be backdated?
Thanks so much for your help

Hi m123456,
With regards to the SDP, there is no limit to backdating !!
If had been a fresh claim for PIP, it could have been backdated to the date of the initial application.
As this is a transfer over to PIP from DLA it can only be backdated to the date of the actual PIP Daily Living Decision, and not the start date of the DLA to PIP transfer process.
