PIP been given it at Last!!! was created by Bev
Just to update you, I went for medical assessment with Atos at the end of May and got my letter on Saturday from the DWP.

I have been given enhanced daily living component, I was given 15 points for this, but I only got 4 points for Mobility so have not been given anything for that even though I have a tripod walker, wheelchair for longer journeys and crutches for getting around my home.

They say that I am able to plan a journey on my own and that I can with the help of a taxi driver get in and out of a vehicle. I said that I never go out on my own and that if I used a taxi then I would be with someone else and they would help me.

I am glad that I have got something and it has been backdated to August 2013 and will be paid until May 2017. Just annoyed that they have said that I can plan a journey, been such a struggle to get this far do not want to lose anything if I decided to appeal or ask them to look at it again.
Really need a blue badge, could I still get this without mobility component?

My husband has used your guides for the assessment and we was ready for the day as the form we submitted in August 2013 was not really that good. I was worried that I would not get anything, glad that I have but really do not know whether to push for mobility?

I gave them a letter from occupational therapy of all the aids that I have and on the day I used my tripod walker, they said I could walk more than 50 metres as they had observed that the distance was actually 52 metres from the front door to the consultants room, but like your guides say can I do that again without stopping and being in pain the answer is no.

So at last I have got a healthy bank balance again, but should I go further or stick as I am??

Anyway my husband and I would like to thank you for your excellent guides that helped us at the medical and gain the money. The best subs I have ever spent Thank from the bottom of my heart.

Hi B,
I'm glad that you have a decision and that it is, on the whole, in your favour. Thanks for letting us know and for your kind words about B+W.

It is entirely up to you whether you accept this decision or take things further. If you do ask for a reconsideration, or go to appeal, you must be aware that there is a chance that your award might be downgraded, rather than upgraded. If you do wish to ask for a Mandatory Reconsideration you must do so within a month of this decision letter.

The answer is yes!! I work full time and without a badge I wouldnt be able to do this.
I have just had mine renewed for another 3 years, I have never received DLA but have been refused it twice, I have just applied for PIP so like you I am hoping for a fair result.

Apply for the badge through your local council, it has been a life saver for me.
Good luck.
