free prescriptions

Can someone on Esa get free prescriptions. My partner was told he had ad no points but after requesting a mandatory reconsideration last week he has been told the decision has been overturned. Couldn't have done this without help from this site. Thank you so much it has been a lifesaver.

People on income-related ESA are automatically entitled to free prescriptions but not those in contributory ESA. If your partner's income is low then he can apply for help with costs on an HC1 form, these should be available from pharmacists and GP surgeries, you can see a copy here

As MHB says, it depend on whether any part of your ESA payments are IR ESA.

If they are, then you are automatically entitled to free prescriptions, (There is a tick box options on the back of the prescription) free dental care, and spectacles.

Being in receipt of IR ESA can also passport you to other benefits, such as Housing Benefit (HB) and Council Tax Support. (CTS)
