These rates apply from April 2024.  All amounts are weekly.

Assessment Phase (First 13 weeks of claim)

Personal Allowance

Age under 25: £71.70
Age over 25: £90.50
Couples : £142.25

Main Phase (from the 14th week of your claim if you are assessed as incapable of work)

Personal Allowance

Age under 25: £90.50
Age over 25: £90.50
Couples: £142.25

Plus:

Either Work-related Activity component (WRAG): £35.95

N.B. Claimants whose claim started from 3rd April 2017 will not receive an additional payment if placed in the WRAG. They will receive the main phase personal allowance.

Or Support component: £47.70

Claimants receiving income-related ESA may also be entitled to the following additional premiums as part of their ESA, depending on their circumstances:

Carer premium £45.60

Severe Disability Premium £81.50 (or £163 for a couple if both members qualify)

Enhanced Disability Premium £20.85 (or £29.75 for couples)

If one member of a couple is over state pension age, then additional Pensioner Premiums may apply.
